ABOUT CHRIS BUNN

cb-jax.jpg

Chris Bunn fit more love, laughter, passion and life into his 41 years on earth than most every thought possible.

Growing up in Zebulon, N.C., Chris excelled at basketball, baseball, football and pretty much anything else he could get his hands on. He went on to play football and baseball for Virginia Military Institute.

In 1992, Chris married the love of his life and NC-native, Dabney. Chris spent nearly 17 years as a successful financial advisor for Merrill Lynch, working alongside his father-in-law and brother-in-law (current board member), Hunter Grove.

Chris was also also an active member of his church, the Exchange Club, and the Boy Scouts of America, always putting the needs of others before himself.

Of all Chris’ accomplishments, any that knew him knew that his greatest was his family. He was a caring and devoted family man, involved in all activities of his three children McCall, Carter and Jax. From swim meets to junior golf, to cheerleading competitions and tee-ball games, Chris was always there with a loud voice and proud smile.

Chris was known for his profound faith, his genuine love for people, and his remarkably positive and passionate approach to life. While he did not win his courageous battle with cancer, he was the champion of touching people’s lives. We honor him as he taught us – by giving hope and help to others, sharing Continuous Blessings.

HOW CBF STARTED

Throughout Chris Bunn’s life, and especially during his fight with a rare from of cancer (Leiomyosarcoma), people were always drawn to him. Even while concern for Chris grew as he fought for his life, He was always more concerned about those around him.

At the memorial service celebrating Chris’ life, friends and family came from near and far, and the impact a single man could have was obvious - over 1500 people attended the service, with standing room only for most. Chris' family knew how he touched their lives, but underestimated how many other people he touched in just 41 years.

Soon after the service, a group of friends and family got together to find a way to convert this outpouring of love and support into something positive to honor Chris’s life and passions. The CB Foundation had its spark when his wife Dabney shared that while everyone affectionately called Chris “CB,” short for Chris Bunn, she always felt that “CB” stood for the continuous blessing he was to all of those around him.

So, as a group we crafted our mission statement:

The Continuous Blessings Foundation, inspired by the remarkable life and caring spirit of Chris Bunn, exists to meet the needs and create opportunities in the lives of youth in the greater Raleigh, NC area.

Today, the Continuous Blessings Foundation is a vehicle to help others in the spirit Chris Bunn demonstrated – by combining his faith, his passion for helping children, and his athletic skills to make a better life for others.

We are launching our fundraising efforts in true Chris Bunn fashion – by having a great time on the golf course.
